5.10. Removal and installation of the engine

The manufacturer recommends to take out the power unit (the engine with coupling and the transmission) down. The elevator is for this purpose necessary to lift above a forward part of the car. In garage conditions in the absence of the elevator the jack, and also strong and rather high support will be required to establish on them the raised forward part of the car that it will give the chance to take from under it the engine lowered on a garage floor.

Good advice
The engine is very heavy therefore we recommend to remove it with the assistant, using the special equipment (the elevator, a telfer, etc.).

Prevention
At removal and installation of the power unit assembled having big weight use only completely serviceable load-lifting mechanisms calculated on the corresponding loading and especially carefully control correctness and reliability of accession to transport eyes of the engine of cables, a traverse, etc.

It will be required to you: keys "on 10", "on 13", passatizh, the screw-driver with a flat edge.
1. For convenience of work remove a cowl (see. "Removal and installation of a cowl").
2. Reduce pressure in a power supply system (see. "Pressure decrease in a power supply system").
3. Remove the rechargeable battery (see. "Removal and installation of the rechargeable battery").
4. Merge liquid from the cooling system (see. "Replacement of cooling liquid").

Note
For discharge disconnect the taking-away hose from a radiator branch pipe as there is no opening for discharge of cooling liquid in a radiator, and take him aside.

5. If you remove the engine for repair, merge oil from an oil case (see. "Replacement of oil in the engine and an oil filter").
6. Disconnect a block from the plug of the traction relay.
7. Turn off a fastening nut...
8.... also disconnect a wire from a contact bolt of the traction relay.
9. Turn off a nut and remove a wire of "weight" from a hairpin.
10. Disconnect a drive cable from the coupling switching off drive lever (see. "Replacement of a cable of the drive of switching off of coupling").
11. Weaken collars of fastening and remove the airbringing sleeve (see. "Removal and installation of the air filter").
12. Disconnect a cable tip from the sector of the drive of a butterfly valve, take a cable braid from an arm and take a cable aside (see. "Adjustment and replacement of a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve").
13. Disconnect blocks of plaits of wires from the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve...
14.... idling sensor...
15.... sensor of temperature and absolute pressure...
16.... phase sensor...
17.... and sensor of temperature of cooling liquid.
18. Disconnect blocks of plaits of wires from conclusions of nozzles...
19.... ignition coil conclusions...
20.... also take plaits of wires aside.
21. Disconnect blocks of plaits of wires from the sensor of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft...
22.... from the backing light switch...
23.... from the speed sensor...
24.... and oil pressure sensor.
25. Turn off a fastening nut...
26.... also disconnect a wire from a contact hairpin of the generator.
27. Turn off a nut...
28.... also disconnect a wire from tension regulator hairpin.
29. Weaken a collar of fastening of a steam discharge hose, having squeezed its unbent ears, shift a collar on a hose...
30.... also remove a steam discharge hose from a thermostat case branch pipe.
31. Similarly remove the bringing engine cooling system radiator hose from a thermostat case branch pipe.
32. Weaken a collar of fastening of the hose which is taking away cooling liquid to a heater radiator, having squeezed its unbent ears, shift a collar on a hose and remove a hose from a thermostat branch pipe.
33. Similarly remove the bringing heater radiator hose from an engine branch pipe.
34. Having hooked the screw-driver, unclench a collar and disconnect a hose of supply of fuel from a fuel stage.
35. Weaken a collar of fastening of a vacuum hose to a receiver, having squeezed its unbent ears, shift a collar on a hose...
36.... also disconnect a hose from a receiver.
37. Wring out a clamp of a tip of draft of the choice of transfers...
38.... also disconnect a tip from the lever of the drive of the choice of transfers.
39. Wring out and take a spring clamp from an opening in draft of gear shifting...
40.... also take draft from the gear shifting lever.
41. Take off a belt of the drive of the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering (see. "Replacement of a belt of the drive of the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering").
42. Remove the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering (see. "Replacement of the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering").
43. Take off a belt of the drive of the generator and compressor of the conditioner (see. "Replacement of a belt of the drive of the generator and compressor of the conditioner").
44. Turn out two bolts of fastening, accurately take aside the compressor of the conditioner and fix it by a wire.
45. Remove a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases (see. "Replacement of a reception pipe").
46. Remove drives of forward wheels (see. "Removal and installation of drives of forward wheels").

Note
Drives of forward wheels can be not disconnected from the transmission. In this case fix the drives disconnected from naves on the power unit in any available way (for example, bind a wire).

47. Fix slings of the load-lifting mechanism for a lobby...
48.... and back transport eyes also pull slings.
49. Establish a reliable support under the engine.
50. Turn out three bolts of fastening of the right forward arm of the power unit...
51.... and one bolt of fastening of the right back arm of the power unit to a support.
52. Remove a cross-piece of a forward suspension bracket (see. "Removal and installation of a cross-piece of a forward suspension bracket").
53. Turn out two bolts of fastening of a forward pillow of the power unit to the forward amplifier of a body.
54. Turn out three bolts from each party of fastening of the forward amplifier and remove it.
55. Double-check whether all wires, hoses and hinged knots are disconnected from the power unit.
56. Remove a support from under the engine and lower the power unit down on a floor.
57. You will hang out a forward part of the car (lift the car on the elevator) on height sufficient for extraction from under the car of the power unit, and establish reliable support under a body.
58. Take the power unit from under the car.
59. Install the engine, and also all removed knots and details in the sequence, the return to removal, taking into account the following:
– before installation of the power unit clear a tap of a rust carving openings of fastening of its support;
– surely replace laying of an inlet pipe new;
– at connection of wires and pipelines carefully you watch correctness of their arrangement in a motor compartment, without allowing contact with the heating-up and moving elements of the power unit.

After installation of the engine execute the following.
1. Fill in oil in the engine (see. "Replacement of oil in the engine and an oil filter").
2. Fill in cooling liquid (see. "Replacement of cooling liquid").
3. Adjust the drive of control of the transmission (see. "Adjustment of the drive of control of the transmission").
4. Launch the engine and check whether there is no leak of fuel, oil and cooling liquid. Check oil pressure. Listen to the engine: it has to work exactly, without extraneous noises and knocks.
