Need for replacement of the thermostat can arise at unstable temperature condition of the engine: overheat or insufficient warming up.

For check of the thermostat on the car launch the cold engine and touch the top (bringing) radiator hose — it has to be cold. After temperature of cooling liquid reaches 85–89 °C, the hose has to begin to heat up quickly that indicates the beginning of circulation of liquid on a big contour. If it does not occur, remove the thermostat and check its working capacity.

It will be required to you: a key "on 10", passatizh with changeable capture.

1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.

2. Merge liquid from the engine cooling system (see. "Replacement of cooling liquid").

3. Weaken a collar of fastening of a steam discharge hose to a thermostat case branch pipe, having squeezed passatizham its unbent ears, shift a collar on a hose...	4.... also disconnect a hose from a branch pipe.

5. Weaken a collar of fastening of the taking-away hose to a thermostat case branch pipe, having squeezed passatizham its unbent ears, shift a collar on a hose...	6.... also disconnect a hose from a thermostat case branch pipe.

7. Weaken a collar of fastening of a hose of a heater to a thermostat case branch pipe, having squeezed passatizham its unbent ears, shift a collar on a hose...	8.... also disconnect a hose from a thermostat case branch pipe.

9. Squeeze a clamp...	10.... also disconnect a block of a plait of wires from the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid.

11. Turn out three bolts of fastening of the case of the thermostat to a head of the block of cylinders...	12.... also remove the thermostat case.

13. Take out a lock ring from a thermostat case flute...	14.... also remove a lock ring.

15. Take out the thermostat from the case...	16.... and rubber sealing ring. Examine a sealing ring. Replace strongly pressed out, hardened or torn ring.

Note So the thermostat removed from the car looks. Pay attention to its marking that when replacing to get same.

17. For check lower the thermostat in the container with the water which is warmed up to 78–80 °C. Gradually heating water, you watch temperature of the beginning of opening of the valve of the thermostat.

Note The thermostat of the cooling system is considered serviceable under following conditions: – temperature began opening of the valve – 85–89 °C; – temperature of full opening of the valve – 99–102 °C.

18. Clear a privalochny surface of a head of the block of cylinders and a flange of the case of the thermostat of the laying remains.

Good advice Before installation of the case of the thermostat apply a sealant layer on a privalochny surface of a head of the block of cylinders and on a thermostat case flange.

19. Establish the removed details as it should be, the return to removal.

20. Fill in cooling liquid and remove air traffic jams from the cooling system (see. "Replacement of cooling liquid").
