3.15. Problems with brakes

Pumping of the brake system
Check of the brake system

The brake system of your car is supplied by the vacuum amplifier, anti-blocking system (ABS) and is quite effective. Decrease in efficiency of braking, a car drift when braking have to become a signal for urgent check of a brake.

Prevention
Regularly check the level of brake fluid in a tank of the main brake cylinder. Level of brake fluid has to be about a tag of "MAX" on the tank case.

Falling of level of liquid demonstrates or leak of brake fluid from system, or about excessive wear of brake shoes. If on an instrument guard the lamp signaling about the low level of brake fluid lit up, you do not hurry to add it at once, at first check thickness of overlays of brake shoes: can be, time to replace blocks came?
Producers of the car recommend to replace all brake fluid in system through 40 000 km of a run or 2 years (depending on what will come earlier).
Some drivers scorn this opinion as liquid in a tank seems to them rather pure, and it is absolutely vain. The matter is that brake fluid is very hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from air), and this moisture not only destroys over time the surfaces of brake cylinders, pipelines and, as a result, leads to premature failure of knots of the brake system, but also significantly reduces temperature of boiling of brake fluid. Normal temperature of boiling of brake fluids of the class DOT-4 makes 210–260 °C. At frequent intensive braking disk brakes strongly heat up, at high content of water brake fluid can boil that, as a rule, leads to refusal of brakes.

Useful tips
In the future not to subject itself to contingencies for repair not only the brake system, but also all car, it is better to replace in due time liquid in the brake system.
We recommend to replace brake fluid in 1 year.
At emergence of problems with brakes pump over the brake system (see. "Pumping of the brake system"). If it did not yield desirable result, it is necessary to check carefully all brake system as it is described below (see. "Check of the brake system").
